Your daughter was sent home with a hard copy of the form on the right (Tryout Entrance Ticket) today, August 25. This must be reviewed and signed by you before she is able to tryout on Thursday, August 27. Failure to do so will result in NOT being able to tryout. If it is lost, print a copy from the document on the right.
I have also posted a copy of the judge's form. Feel free to review it before Thursday.
DO NOT FORGET THIS PINK SHEET, LADIES!
General Tryout info
Tryouts will be Aug 25-27. Aug 25-26 will be learning/teaching days; Aug 27 will be the actual tryout day. You must be there ALL THREE DAYS to be considered for a spot on the team. YOU MUST HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL TO TRY OUT! The following should answer any questions you have about tryouts:
You may choose your tryout group. There cannot be more than 3 people per group. If you do not have 3 people in your group, one may be added on the first day of tryouts. Likewise, if you do not have a group, you will be added to one. Try to work this out ahead of time; it will help you feel more confident.
Your group will do ONE CHEER, ONE CHANT, ONE 2-EIGHT COUNT DANCE, and TWO JUMPS (toe touch and one of your choice) for the judges on the last day of tryouts, Aug 27.
Your group will perform AIM HIGH as the tryout cheer.
You will be required to perform a chant that you learn at tryouts which will put everyone on a level playing field. No potential member will know this chant in advance. This is to see how quickly potential cheerleaders can pick up new material.
Everyone will learn one 8 count of a dance at tryouts which you MUST use, but you/your group will create the 2nd 8 count to add to your dance, making your final performance a 2 8-count dance (16 counts).
In addition, you may demonstrate your knowledge of one or two other cheers and chants if you so choose. This is NOT required.
You will also have the chance to show any tumbling skills ABOVE a round-off that you have (back-handsprings, tucks etc). We do not do front handsprings in cheerleading. Be aware we will use a DEAD FLOOR all year, so if your tumbling skills involve a spring mat, start asking your instructor to help you on a dead floor. NOTE: Tumbling skills are a bonus. They are not required, and not having any tumbling skills will NOT hurt your chances of making the squad. Likewise, tumbling skills alone will not guarantee you a spot...
You will need to wear black cheer or athletic shorts, a mostly/all white t-shirt, athletic shoes, with your hair pulled up in a bow to tryouts. DO NOT BUY ANY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT UNTIL YOU KNOW YOU HAVE MADE THE TEAM!
The squad will be announced Aug 28 via Mrs. Rehm’s Weebly (here) along with important information.
