Extraordinary Nature Mini Project:
Monday: Journal (What do you do when you get home from school each day? Explain your daily routine, starting with 2:15pm and continuing til 7pm) and TED Talk to start us off. Start reading articles, annotate, complete “take away boxes” at the end of each article. Hwk: All articles/boxes due Wednesday. Tuesday: Vocab quiz! Continue reading articles and filling in boxes. Watch videos here here here and here and keep notes in your notebook (pg. 31) that might be helpful for your letter. Hwk: All articles need to be read, annotated and “take away boxes” filled in by tomorrow. Wednesday: Seminar! Questions will be based on the articles and TED talk you’ve read and seen. (212 degrees and Death Crawl videos) Extra Effort Award and adjective graffiti journal: Throughout the school year, WRAL-TV and Tom Suiter recognize one student-athlete each week who excels, not only on the playing field but also in the classroom and in the community. *If you're absent, just choose 3-4 clips from the site to watch. Students will write all of the adjectives they hear as Suiter narrates the clips on right side of pg. 29 in LA notebook in a bulleted list. Then, on the left side of pg. 29 create a word and doodle only graffiti journal of all of these adjectives. HWK: Finish graffiti journal. You will have your AOW assigned to you via the NEWSELA site, so you can start on it early this week. WEBSITE DIRECTIONS-- AFTER YOU SIGN UP, CLICK "BINDER" IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER. THEN CLICK "ASSIGNMENTS" and SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM. You should see an article assigned to you titled "PRO/CON: Should Fast Food Workers Be Paid More?" Click it. Choose a lexile level you feel is appropriate. Read the article. Then click "writing" and complete it. Then click "quiz" and complete it. Then you're done!
